Louise KellyOne thing that has always coesufnd me is the conflation of the term Son of God with the term Messiah or Lord . These terms don't mean the same thing, do they? As someone who was raised Jewish but has been very inspired by your books, I really struggle with this. It seems to me that as soon as you call Jesus the Son of God it implies that the pre-Easter Jesus was something more than human. In contrast, the term Messiah means (I think) that Jesus was a human being chosen by God to be God's ultimate message or revelation and thus, in his post-Easter incarnation, should be our Lord the one we should follow in our lives, rather than the other would be lords of this world' such as money or power. I believe that something happened after Jesus died something that we can't explain and that the spirit of the post-Easter Jesus has touched millions of people (including myself). I view Easter as God's way of saying hey that message I sent you was the real deal'. But I can't accept that the pre-Easter Jesus was divine. Divinely inspired yes but God's divine son on earth no.I think a lot of Christians really struggle with the supernatural portrayal of the pre-Easter Jesus. Is there a different way to think of the term Son of God' that helps with this problem?

Found this article when trynig to help a buddy who's Dad has healed due to the 12 steps but denies that his Higher Power is Jesus or God. You cite Acts 17:25 which I also found to be telling. To organize my thoughts I am made a list of how the 12 steps mirror the steps to salvation. Kinda seems like a slam dunk But I come at it from the other direction.Step 2-Admit that there is a God who is in controlStep 3-Decide to follow Him (turn from our sin is a consequence of this but that would come after Step 5)Step 5-Admit our sinsStep 7-Ask Him to change us (lead my life)Step 11 is not a specific step on the path to salvation but still an important step to growing Christlike. Pray for knowledge of and the power to follow His will and not our own.It has occurred to me that many 12 step followers have a more personal, reliant relationship with God than many who profess to be seeking Him. A real 1st hand knowledge of just what God can do. hmmm

that all Christian men are priests of God. ..and like liinvg stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 2 Pe. 2:5 & 9.Jesus became the sacrifice once and for all, therefore no more Priests are necessary as a go-between between us and God. There is not supposed to be an hierarchy, nor is there supposed to be an authority that tells Christians that they're unable to discern the Bible without them. This is all wrong according to the Bible. What the New Testament does say is that He gives gifts to each of us, and talents, to be used accordingly. Some are teachers, etc. but we are each to study to show thyself approved. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth . 2 Tim. 2:15.I'll end with this: For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit; he who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Rom. 14:17-19.p.s. About the Priest that came to speak with me~ it wasn't a bad experience at all and I didn't intend it to appear that way. It is just something I remembered when I read Robin's post. As I said, I think it was more of a not so good thing for him perhaps. I wish I could remember who he was, I would love to speak with him again today. Not to argue, but to fellowship in Christ.

If God was not Love and truththen this poem rbcsdiees my soul very well THEUNCONQUERABLEby: William Ernest HenleyOUT of the night that covers me,Black as the pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may beFor my unconquerable soul.In the fell clutch of circumstanceI have not winced nor cried aloud:Under the bludgeonings of chanceMy head is bloody, but unbow'd.Beyond this place of wrath and tearsLooms but the Horror of the shade,And yet the menace of the yearsFinds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate,How charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate:I am the captain of my soul. But My God is Love and Truth.I think that God will CONQUER my soul with love and truth which is in his Word and Word is Christ, Emmanuel, God with us.As of yet I do not Worship God although I cry not to.I Read his Word that I might know my Father and the more I read the more I recognize what manner of person he is.This causes me to Love him.You should Worship him, but if you can?t, read his Word, When you know him enough, then you will Worship him in truth and Love.
